Getting started

Admin

Under the UK Environmental Protection (Duty of Care) Regulations 1991 and the Waste (England and Wales) Regulations 2011, a written Waste Transfer Note must accompany every transfer of controlled waste between holders.

WTN Digital creates a legally-compliant electronic note for every movement — it replaces the yellow/blue paper Combined Conveyance Notes and adds 2026 Digital Waste Tracking (DWT) readiness.

Jobs & transfer notes

Admin

Waste Collected: your driver picks waste up from a customer site (skip, muck-away, recyclate). EWC codes apply.

Materials Supplied: your driver delivers clean material (aggregate, sand, recycled crushed concrete) to a customer site. EWC codes don't apply; the note shows a material catalog with WRAP certification toggles where applicable.

The job type is set when you (or the driver) create the job, and drives what the PDF prints as its title and column headers.

PDFs & distribution

Admin

These mimic the 4-part carbonless Combined Conveyance Note: White for the producer, Yellow for the carrier, Blue for the consignee, and Green for office/archive. Download each copy from the WTN list or email them directly.

Billing & subscription

Every feature, unlimited WTNs, unlimited drivers — no credit card required. The trial countdown shows on your dashboard. When it ends, pick a plan from Billing and check out via Stripe.

DEFRA Digital Waste Tracking

Admin

From April 2026 it becomes mandatory for waste carriers in England to report every waste movement electronically. WTN Digital is wired to the Receipt of Waste API v1.0 and is running in Preview mode today — every WTN builds a live-format payload you can download and review.

When DEFRA publishes their live endpoint, we flip one environment variable and your existing notes start submitting automatically.

Using the app

Driver

Tap the job card on your Jobs screen (or use + New Waste Collected / + New Materials Supplied at the top).

Step 1: Pick your vehicle and load size. When you arrive on site, tap Arrived — the departure time is logged automatically when you Save & Sign Off.

Step 2: Add the EWC codes (waste) or material line(s) with tonnages, plus Gross / Tare. Nett weight auto-calculates.

Step 3: Both you and the site operator sign on glass, then Save & Sign Off. GPS is captured at save.

Signatures & GPS

Driver

Make sure you've got a stylus or a clean finger — greasy gloves confuse the touch screen.

Rotate to portrait, and tap Clear to start again if the first attempt didn't stick.

If the page has zoomed in after pinch, tap the Reset Zoom icon at the top right of your browser.

Weights

Driver

Gross = total weight of the loaded vehicle on the weighbridge.

Tare = empty vehicle weight (your cab logs this, or use the default 32,000 kg for a standard 8-wheeler).

Nett = Gross − Tare (auto-calculated). Only type a nett weight manually if the loader gave you one.

Offline & hardware

Driver

Right now the app needs a connection to submit. Walk a few metres from the cab if the yard is a blackspot, or let it queue and save once you're back on signal.

A proper offline mode is on our roadmap — your feedback on this helps us prioritise it.

Account

Driver

Ask your admin to reset it from the Users page. They'll give you a temporary password — change it from your profile as soon as you log in.
